Bike project
At SVB our bike project is aimed to engage with men from European communities, we give people bikes and get them involved in mental health related activities. This project has now finished however we are in talks with partners and we are hoping we will be able to continue our suicide prevention/well-being activities with wider community as it has been a great success so far.
Peri/Menopause Poetry Readings
Perimenopause and Menopause are not usual open topics to discuss at the dinner table. Furthermore, in South Asian communities, there are limited safe spaces in cultural and diverse languages where women can get information about it or talk about it. As something that nearly all women will be likely to experience at some point in their lives, we would like to create space to acknowledge the challenges, tell the stories and connect in solidarity, too.
SVB’s Faith and Wellbeing team visit places of worship across Bradford
Over the past few weeks the Faith team have visited several places of worship, including the Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara, Jamia masjid and Hindu Cultural Society of Bradford as part of an initiative for the South Asian Heritage month.
Interfaith Cricket Match
Aqeefah and Mohammed Zahid from our faith and wellbeing team attended a community inter-faith cricket match with Bradford's mayor also there. It was a great day as there was members of the local places of worship all playing sport together. We look forward to getting involved with more community events.
