The Youth Faith team Mohammed Zahid and Aqeefah met up with Deborah and Bruce Warren from the Fountain Church, Bradford and PC James Elliot (Faith Officer). "We had a great meeting with our wonderful hosts Deborah and Bruce in their garden. We discussed our roles and things we have in common. I'm looking forward to working together on initiatives"
Lilly invited a beautiful lady from Bradford College. Nabeela showed us how we can create bags, rugs and baskets from recyclables, we are excited to do some collaborative working in the new term.
Sharing Voices have been providing in-reach work for many years by visiting the acute wards at Lynfield Mount Hospital to meet with adults representing BAME Communities detained under the Mental Health Act or are admitted as informal patients.
Mohammed Zahid (who is one of SVB’s community development workers) delivered a Mental Health workshop on Sunday to the Al Hikmah youth group in Keighley! The turn out was great, we look forward to holding more sessions in the future.
Lilly and the Women's team welcome our ladies back to our groups. This was kicked off with our long awaited Eid Party, where we painted canvasses and indulged in our gift self care packs. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and the ladies are looking forward to attending SVB again.
Sadly for SVB, we will soon be saying goodbye to Osman Gondal who has worked for the organisation for almost 8 years. We would just like to wish Osman all the best with his future endeavours. You truly have been a pleasure to work with and an asset to the organisation. We don't think you realise just how much of a positive impact you have had on the people you have worked with and supported. We will always remember you with warm thoughts and memories. You deserve the best! Good luck with all future endeavours
Let’s Talk: Depression We know it isn’t the easiest thing to speak about. But we can and we must. This week/next week, Sharing Voices Bradford are starting focussed drop-in sessions specifically to discuss the topic of Depression in our communities. The sessions will be run by Uzma Kazi, as part of the Culturally Adapted BA project.
Sharing Voices would like to wish you Eid Mubarak. We hope you all have a great time with your family and friends whilst staying safe and following the government guidelines. The SVB offices are closed, due to Eid on Thursday 13th May 2021. If anyone needs mental health crisis support whilst the office is closed, please call First Response on 01274 221181.
